About Brighton Learning Center in Gladstone

We are an early education-based childcare center in Gladstone. We care for children from 6-weeks to 12-years-old, providing a range of age-appropriate resources and activities to encourage their development right up until they are ready to join Kindergarten.
At Brighton Learning Center, children have plenty of space to explore and thrive! Our renovated classrooms have been thoughtfully designed for comfort and engagement, and our huge outdoor play areas provide endless opportunities for fresh air, physical activity, and outdoor learning.
Who We Are
Brighton Learning Center got its start in 2009 with its first location in Gladstone, and has been steadily expanding since, with this location joining the roster in 2025. From the very beginning, we decided to do things a bit differently by creating a unique space that fosters early learning in a fun, engaging, and safe environment.
Children can explore the world around them as our team of educators encourages them to thrive and grow into their full potential.
We believe our innovative approach gives children a bright and positive start in life as we encourage both exploration and discovery as well as emotional intelligence and building friendships.

What Makes Brighton Learning Center so Special?
Devoted Child Care
Our teachers have been with us at Brighton Learning Center for years—some as long as four, eight, or even since the beginning! Most of our staff moved from our initial location, fostering continuity and trust. Our staff builds relationships with each child through daily one-on-one and small group time, helping develop genuine bonds that bring warm and fuzzy feelings when children are with us.
All of our teachers receive over the required number of training hours in fields such as health, safety, nutrition, curriculum, and behavior management. Teachers are also CPR and first aid certified, ensuring preparedness for emergencies.
For your family’s safety and security, each teacher is fingerprinted and background checked, and we include video surveillance in each room as an added layer of precaution. We serve quality, healthy meals—breakfast, lunch, and snacks—prepared on-site with love.
Quality Early Education
We teach and assess using a theme-based and project-based curriculum with active lessons, sign language, Spanish, and more! Parents can see how and what their children are learning through the child-created displays in our hallways, notifications throughout the day on the Child Pilot app, our active Facebook and Instagram page, as well as annual parent/teacher conferences.
Our lesson plans are available through the interactive Child Pilot app that allows parents to not only view lessons, but receive pictures, and notifications on their child's care and education throughout the day, also with features that allow you to message the teachers directly.
Spanish Language Immersion Program (Preschool and Pre-K Only)
Our Preschool and Pre-K classrooms offers an exclusive Spanish Language Immersion Program where children learn and engage in Spanish throughout the entire day. This immersive approach fosters bilingual language development and prepares children for a global future. The program is led by experienced educators with advanced training in language immersion techniques.
Part of Our Family
We encourage family involvement through many different family-focused events such as the grandparents' day lunch, field day, our annual family BBQ, bike day, literacy night, parents nights out and so many more activities. We also visit many Kansas City attractions, such as the Kansas City Zoo, Kaleidoscope, Science City, pumpkin patches, monthly library visits and more, through field trips that extend our students' learning experiences.

Michelle Christeson (Director)
An integral member of our team, our director has been with us since day one in 2011.
Reliable and consistent, she is a consummate professional with credentials that include notable college credits, current industry training and leadership that embodies the organization’s
mission and vision.
Donisha Colbert (Assistant Director)
Since joining our team at its inception in 2011, Donisha has been a cornerstone of our program's success. With a degree and experience working with children of all ages, she brings a wealth of knowledge and passion to her role.
Donisha specializes in curriculum development and excels at creating individualized lesson plans tailored to each child's unique needs, ensuring every learner thrives.
